The AT2020USB-X is the USB-native version of Audio-Technica's long-running AT2020 condenser microphone — a well-established name in the budget-to-mid podcasting and streaming mic category. This is based on manufacturer specifications and published spec-sheet data; we don't test microphones in-house.

Who it's for

Good fit if you record in a treated or reasonably quiet room and want a condenser mic's detailed sound without an audio interface. Skip it if you record in an untreated or noisy room — condenser mics pick up ambient noise more readily than dynamic mics like the Shure MV7+ or Rode PodMic USB.

Specs

What stands out

It carries the AT2020's well-established reputation for detailed, accurate sound at a reasonable price, now in a USB-native package that skips the need for a separate audio interface. The headphone jack lets you monitor your recording in real time with zero-latency direct monitoring.

What to know before buying

As a condenser mic, it's more sensitive to room noise than a dynamic mic — in an untreated room with echo, HVAC noise, or street sound, a dynamic USB mic will generally sound cleaner without acoustic treatment.

Bottom line

For recording in a quiet or treated space, the AT2020USB-X delivers detailed condenser sound at a reasonable price — for an untreated room, a dynamic mic is the safer choice.
